Stalking the Wild Toothed Jelly Fungus

jelly mushroom-Edit2Toothed jelly fungus, almost clear as quartz–I found a whole log covered with these two weeks ago while out tracking deer and black bears. They are edible but taste like tofu. In other words, tasteless. It is a good source of emergency food or a way to thicken a dish. Otherwise, I don’t gather these. There are lots of other edible goodies in the woods.

Silently, the toothed jelly fungus stalks it's prey: the unsuspecting fallen log. Suddenly, spores land and the battle begins. There is a brief struggle and then it is over.
